One rescued ITBP jawan succumbs to hypothermia Wednesday, February 9 2005 10:35 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

An Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan who was among three security personnel rescued nearly 36 hours after an avalanche hit their dwellings near Jawahar Tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway died yesterday (Feb 08, 2005) of freezing cold, official sources said.
The three were rescued by an Army team from High Altitude Warfare School following a massive search operation after they went missing.
They were admitted to hospital for treatment. One of them later died of hypothermia (stopping of blood circulation due to intense cold), the sources said.
The avalanche struck in the wee hours of Monday (Feb 07, 2005) leaving eight jawans dead.
In another report from Srinagar three members of a family were killed yesterday in the avalanche in Dooru area in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.
One Mohammed Qasim along with his wife and daughter were killed when the avalanche hit their house, they said.
