BJP criticises dynastic politics in the country Wednesday, February 9 2005 14:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ranchi:
The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Feb 9, 2005) once again expressed concern over the spread of dynastic and familial politics in the Indian political system.
"The Congress has already become a private limited company and the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) belongs to only one family while the JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) has caught the infection now," senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said at a news conference in Ranchi.
The former BJP president accused JMM supremo and Union Coal Minister Sibu Soren of following the footsteps of the Congress and the RJD.
"Soren has sidelined an honest and disciplined party leader like Stephen Marandi to promote his sons, Durga and Hemant, so that the political power remained in his family," Naidu alleged.
"Like Railway Minister Laloo Prasad appointing his wife as Bihar Chief Minister and making two of his kin as legislators, Soren also desires to follow the footsteps of his Cabinet colleague," Naidu charged.
He said that any member of any family should deserve to get a party ticket or a chair of power.
Stephen Marandi snapped relations with Soren and accused the JMM chief of denying party ticket from Dumka only because to accommodate his younger son Hemant, a charge since been denied by Soren.
Later, Marandi filed his nomination papers from the Dumka constituency against the official candidate Hemant Soren.
