NC activist among four killed in Jammu and Kashmir Friday, February 11 2005 15:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Jammu:
Four persons, including three militants and a National Conference (NC) activist, were killed in separate militancy-related incidents in Rajouri, Kathua and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir since last night (Feb 10, 2005), official sources said in Jammu today (Feb 11, 2005).
On specific information, troops launched a cordon and search operation in Doodasanpaie area of Rajouri district around 10:30 hrs (IST) this morning, they said.
During the operation an encounter took place, in which two militants were killed, the sources said adding two AK rifles, seven grenades, 120 rounds, one radioset and two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) were recovered.
In another incident, Udhampur police killed a militant in an encounter in Morha hill in Billawar area of Kathua district early today, they said.
The militant, identified as Ismail Nallah, belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen and one AK rifle and some ammunition was recovered from him, they said.
Meanwhile, a group of militants killed an NC activist Mohmmad Yousef Bhat on the outskirts of his village Prem Nagar in Doda district last night, they said.
The militants beat him up and later fired on him, they said, adding that Bhat died on the spot. The body was recovered by police and handed over to his family for last rites.
