RJD Ministers have criminal antecedents: Advani Saturday, February 12 2005 17:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Madhubani/Begusarai:
Mounting a scathing attack on the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) Government for the "sorry state of affairs" in Bihar, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president L K Advani today (Feb 12, 2005) alleged that several RJD Ministers had "criminal antecedents" and called upon the
electorate to vote for the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) for "clean and effective" governance.
"The RJD is responsible for all the ills in Bihar and most of the Ministers in its Government have criminal antecedents," Advani told an election rally at Madhubani, Khagaria and Begusarai while canvassing support for the NDA candidates.
Alleging that the law and order situation was worsening day-by-day and development had come to a "standstill" in Bihar, Advani recalled that the NDA had in 1998 brought the State under the Central rule but a resolution to this effect was withdrawan as NDA lacked majority in the Rajya Sabha and Congress announced to vote against it in the Upper House.
Referring to the Emergency which led to installation of the first non-Congress Government at the Centre while the Congress faced a complete rout in Bihar in 1977, Advani said a strong wave in favour of the NDA was sweeping the State this time and the RJD Government was on its way out.
He also urged the electorate to reject the Congress and the LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) as well as they together with the RJD were sharing power at the Centre while "befooling" the people of the State that they were contesting the Assembly polls against "RJD misrule".
