Proof claiming dismissal of Goa Govt pre-planned
Saturday, February 12 2005 09:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Panaji: Claiming that he had "substantial proof" that dismissal of his Government by Governor S C Jamir was "pre-planned", former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today (Feb 12, 2005) said that he would prove the same in the Supreme Court when he files his writ petition.

"I have documentary proof that the dismissal of my Government was pre-planned and that convening of the Assembly by the Governor on February 2 was merely a farce. He had planned to dismiss my Government on the previous day itself," Parrikar told reporters in Panaji.

He said that the orders to prorogue the Assembly were passed by the Governor to Speaker Vishwas Satarkar an hour after the House was adjourned after the vote of confidence on February 2. "The fact that he (Jamir) prorogued the House itself is illegal as he cannot do so without the advice of the Council of Ministers. At that time since there was no Government in place, he could not have prorogued the House," Parrikar said.

"We have attached documentary proof that the dismissal of the Government was pre-planned and that is why our petition, which was to be filed today has been postponed by a day," he said but declined to give details.
