J&K police seeks closure of case against Anara

Jammu: Notwithstanding the report by Chandigarh based forensic science laboratory confirming it was Beauty queen Anara Gupta in the porno-CD, the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir police has moved a local court seeking closure of the case against her.

Inspector General, Crime and Railways P K Gupta told sources in Jammu that closure report has been filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate by our Superintendent of Police on Saturday (Feb 12, 2005).

"The report submitted in the court of CJM is the same as that filed by the crime branch in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Feb four," IG said.

Asked why the crime branch has not taken cognizance of the Chandigarh based FSL report, Gupta said, 'It was not in our jurisdiction at all'.

We were separately dealing with this part of the case second CD report falls in the jurisdiction of executive police and it is now High Court to decided over the matter, he said.

Earlier,the Crime Branch had recommanded closure of case against Anara by admitting to J&K High Court on Feb 4, 2005 four that 'Anara is not involved in any other offensive'.

"Anara is not involved in any other offences and we want to close of the case registered against her by women police cell on November 4 last year," the Crime Branch said in its report to the court.
