Actress Nagma denies any links to the underworld
Monday, February 14 2005 12:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Film Actress Nagma, who has been accused by an arrested underworld member of having links with the underworld, yesterday (Feb 13, 2005) termed the charges against her as "baseless and politically motivated".

"It is an outright false charge and a politically-motivated attack because of some jealousy. I returned on Saturday (Feb 12, 2005) from the campaign (for the second phase of Assembly Poll) in Jharkhand, which was very successful and I will go there again for the third phase," she told Aaj Tak.

The actress said that she would, "File a criminal defamation case against the person who has made the charges against me".

Questioning the timing of the charges being made public now three months after they were levelled, Nagma said, "Why were the reports made public when I have just returned from successful political campaigning in Jharkhand?"

Rajesh Panchariya alias Jumbo, who was held by Mumbai police last year (2004) for his alleged links with the underworld, has in his confessional statement charged Nagma had links with underworld and she received money through hawala, police sources said in Mumbai.
