Pankaj Udhas, wife escape unhurt in hotel fire

Jammu: Noted ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas and his wife escaped unhurt while four persons sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out in a hotel in Jammu soon after his musical performance.

The blaze broke out last evening (Feb 13, 2005) at Hotel Asia, where more than 150 guests had converged to attend the Pankaj Udhas musical night, official sources said in Jammu.

Soon after the concert ended, the fire broke out from a room and spread to two other rooms of the hotel, they said, adding the blaze was put out after over two hours.

The ghazal maestro and his wife escaped unhurt and were shifted to another place, they said.

Four persons sustained burn injuries in the incident and were hospitalised, they said, adding a portion of the hotel was damaged in the fire, resulting in a loss of property worth Rs 25 lakh.
