SC orders shifting of Pappu Yadav to Tihar jail Monday, February 14 2005 14:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The Supreme Court today (Feb 14, 2005) ordered shifting of RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) MP Pappu Yadav from Beur jail in Patna, where he is lodged as an accused in CPM (Communist Party of India Marxist) leader Ajit Sarkar murder case, to Tihar jail at Delhi within a week.
Taking into account the illegal antics of Yadav to roam around freely and get five-star treatment at Patna Medical College Hospital, a Bench comprising Justice N Santosh Hegde and Justice S B Sinha directed his shifting to Tihar jail and ordered that the trial of pending criminal cases against Yadav would continue in Patna through video-conferencing.
The court said only in rare and exceptional situations where the sessions judge trying cases against Yadav requires his personal presence during the trial and then only Yadav will be produced before him under guards from Tihar jail.
