Posters on Gujarat riots surface in 2 more places Monday, February 14 2005 12:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
After Bhagalpur, Kishanganj and Purnea, posters on the post-Godhra riots in Gujarat have surfaced at several places in Bihar's Supaul and West Champaran districts forcing the police to lodge FIRs against alleged Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) activists.
Superintendent of police (Supaul) M P Singh said today (Feb 14, 2005) that two separate FIRs were registered with the Pipra and Supaul police stations in the district against RJD workers, including a shopkeeper Rajesh Yadav.
Singh said that the posters, which were in Urdu, were put up on walls and some shops in the two police station areas yesterday (Feb 13, 2005).
Another FIR was lodged against an organisation and printers of such posters, which appeared under Sikarpur Assembly constituency in West Champaran, official sources said.
The posters were found pasted at Dhumnagar Chowk, Semra Chowk, Ajuwa Chowk and Dhumnagar village yesterday.
On noticing the posters, the returning officer of the constituency Raja Ram Choudhary got the matter probed by the circle officer before lodging the FIR, the sources added.
Appearance of such posters and screening of CDs on Gujarat riots have sparked off a controversy with the Election Commission (EC) serving a notice on the ruling party and Opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) stepping up demand for stern action against RJD.
