New Delhi:
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today (Feb 15, 2005) met Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and said dialogue was the only way to resolve the Kashmir problem.
"I believe in the process of dialogue and the process is on," he told reporters after about 30-minute meeting with Patil in New Delhi.
Asked about the demand for autonomy to the border State, he said that there were "internal dimensions" to the issue. He did not elaborate.
About his talks with the Home Minister, he said that the discussions centred on the general situation in the State. "People have realised that the gun is no answer and only dialogue will lead to a solution," he said.
Senior State Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil also met the Home Minister as part of the political dialogue process initiated by the Centre with various groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
