Chennai: A sessions court today (Feb 17, 2005) adjourned to Feb 22 the anticipatory bail application filed by Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi who apprehended arrest in connection with an assault on a temple priest in August last year (2004).

The Principal Sessions Judge P Murugesan adjourned the hearing on a plea from the city public prosecutor T V Ganesan.

The case relates an assault on Tirukoshttiyur Madhavan in the city on Aug 3, 2004.

According to a standing High court order, the Seer cannot be arrested in the case till the disposal of his bail application.

The Seer, who was arrested on Nov 11, 2004 in connection with the Sankararaman murder case, was released on bail on Jan 11.
