Summons to builders regarding 'sadhu' sex scandal Thursday, February 17 2005 13:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ahmedabad:
Police today (Feb 17, 2005) issued summons to three Surat-based builders for questioning in connection with the CD containing sexually explicit scenes between priests of the Vadtal sect of Swaminarayan temple and women.
"Three Surat-based builders have been issued summons for questioning in connection with the case. Their role in the case has emerged and there is a need to know more about their involvement including who financed it," city Crime Branch sources said.
However, police did not comment if Swami Bhaktiswarup, the arrested priest from the Junagadh Swaminarayan temple had revealed the name of any senior functionaries of the Vadtal sect as being involved in the CD scam.
A senior functionary of the Vadtal sect has already assured that all the sadhu's shown in the indecent CD would be removed from the sect at the earliest.
Police arrested Bhaktiswarup and three others on February 15, who were part of the team that made the CD by placing hidden camera's at temples and locations in Surat, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Vadtal (Anand district).
Police said that the agents had connived with some sadhu's of the Vadtal sect and in order to frame other priests lured women to the priests and caught them on camera while indulging in sexual acts.
