New Delhi: Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz has been arrested in New Delhi on charges of carrying fake currency.

Aziz, Chairman of Hurriyat constituent People's League, was nabbed outside Pakistan High Commission by a team of Delhi Police Special Cell when he was coming out of the mission last evening (Feb 17, 2005), Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh said.

He said Rs 1,00,000 fake currency in thousand denominations was recovered from him along with 94,000 Dirhams (approximately Rs 12 lakh).

Police had prior information that Aziz was going to the Commission for taking money and had hence laid a trap. He was travelling alone in a taxi.
