Indo-Pak bus: Gen J J Singh allays fears of threat

Bhopal: Allaying fears of security threat in the proposed Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service, Chief of Army Staff Gen J J Singh today (Feb 18, 2005) said that he is sure that all safeguards would be put in place by those who have taken the initiative.

"I am sure that people who have planned and created the initiative have looked into this aspect and I am sure they will make sure that security aspect is certainly safeguarded," Gen Singh said replying to reporters' queries after an Army function in Bhopal.

"The Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) embarked upon by our Government are based on sound fundamentals and we hope and look forward to a positive response from the other side so that we can have peace and tranquillity at our borders," the Army Chief said.
