PM criticises BJP-led NDA Govt in Jharkhand
Friday, February 18 2005 16:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Dhanbad: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Feb 18, 2005) said that only corruption increased while law and order deteriorated to such an extent that the people were feeling unsafe under the rule of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance)Government in Jharkhand in the last four and a half years.

Addressing an election rally at the Randhir Verma stadium in Dhanbad, the Prime Minister said that the polls would decide the future of Jharkhand whether the people wanted development as promised by AICC (All India Congress Committee) president Sonia Gandhi and JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) chief Sibu Soren or the BJP-led NDA which was misguiding people in the name of caste and religion.

He said in his 15-minute speech that at the time of the formation of Jharkhand it was expected that the Government would eliminate poverty and unemployment from the State and create an industrial environment and work for the welfare of farmers, yet the BJP has only led to increase in corruption and allowed the bureacracy to rule the roost.

The Prime Minister asked if the people were feeling unsafe and being divided how could development take place.

He said that for all round development of the State the people should elect a Government which could function in cooperation with the Centre.

He said that if the Congress was voted to power in the State, it would work for development and eliminate corruption and unemployment.
