PM condoles death of Sikh scholar Gyani Maskeen

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Feb 20, 2005) condoled the death of renowned Sikh scholar Gyani Sant Singh Maskeen saying he was an exemplary preacher who practised a rich secular tradition.

Gyani was an exemplary preacher and an epitome of wisdom gathered from deep study of scriptures of many religions and writings of saints of the Bhakti movement, Singh said.

A true son of India, he practised a rich secular tradition, the Prime Minister said in a condolence message.

Bestowed with the title of Panth Rattan, Gyani was sincerely loved and his absence would be deeply felt, the Prime Minister said.
