Chandigarh: In view of the Supreme Court order, the Election Commission (EC) yesterday (Feb 22, 2005) decided that the counting of votes in all the 90 Assembly constituencies of Haryana will be taken up at 08:00 hrs (IST) on February 27, Chief Electoral Officer Urvashi Gulati said at Chandighar yesterday.

All the Returning Officers have been directed to intimate all contesting candidates and their election agents about the change of schedule of counting, she said.

The EC had earlier advanced the counting of votes to February 23.

The Supreme Court yesterday, overruled the Election Commission and directed counting of votes in the election to the Haryana Assembly on February 27, as it found no substantial reason for advancing it to February 23.
