Goa Assembly: BJP MLA Digambar Kamat resigns

Panaji: Prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Digambar Kamat today (Feb 24, 2005) resigned from his seat just a few days ahead of the Rane Government's confidence vote in Goa Assembly on February 28.

Kamat handed over his resignation to legislature secretary Sudhir Narvekar and will be addressing a press conference with Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Luisinio Falerio at 12:00 hrs (IST).

Kamat was considered next-in-line to former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Both BJP and Congress-led sides had expressed confidence that they would win the confidence vote, but had declined to reveal their strategy.
