New Delhi: The U C Banerjee Committee probing the Godhra train tragedy has been given three months extension by the Government.

A decision to this effect was taken by the Union Cabinet today ( Feb 25, 2005).

The Committee's tenure came to an end on January 31 last.

"The Committee has submitted its interim report and the extension is being given to it to complete its inquiry," Railway Minister Laloo Prasad told reporters after a meeting of the Union Cabinet.
