Post-Godhra riots: 3 accused get 4 yrs imprisonment

Ahmedabad: An Ahmedabad court yesterday (Feb 23, 2005) sentenced three persons to four years imprisonment for stabbing a pregnant woman to death during the post-Godhra communal riots.

City and sessions court judge D T Soni, sentenced Varyansinh Bhatia, Manjitsinh Varyansinh and Rajesh Koshti for the murder of Naseembibi Safar Ali, additional public prosecutor Mrugesh Shah said.

The three were part of a crowd that attacked minorities in Madhavpura area of the city and killed the woman.

The case was one of those related to the post-Godhra riots, which were re-opened for investigation as per Supreme Court directives.
