Joshi's plea for extending stay on NBW rejected Thursday, February 24 2005 18:07 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
The Bombay High Court today (Feb 24, 2005) rejected the plea of gutka king Jagdish Joshi urging for extension of stay on non-bailable warrant issued against him by a lower court for his alleged links with the underworld.
Justice R M S Khandeparkar and Justice P V Kakade ruled that they did not intend to extend the stay any further as he had already come to India from UAE and that CBI was free to take any action against him as it may deem fit.
Joshi's lawyer Ashok Mundargi made an oral submission before the bench that Joshi had just returned from UAE and was in the city.
He also urged for extension of Non-Bailable Warrant but the court expressed that it was not inclined to do so.
Joshi had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court urging for cancellation of non-bailable warrant issued against him by a lower court. The matter has been adjourned to February 28.
