2 killed, 4 injured in attack on JK divisional HQ Thursday, February 24 2005 16:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Srinagar:
Two security personnel were killed and at least four others, including three civilians, injured as militants stormed the divisional headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir Government in Srinagar today (Feb 24, 2005), official sources said.
Opening indiscriminate fire, two militants forced their entry into the complex at around 15:00 hrs (IST) injuring six people, including three security men, the sources said.
Two of the injured security men later succumbed to injuries in hospital, they said.
The attack on the divisional headquarters, which houses the offices of divisional commissioner, Kashmir, Srinagar district development commissioner and other revenue officials, came at a time when the administration is busy with relief and rescue operation for people stranded in avalanche-hit areas of south Kashmir.
