Repolling in 27 Jharkhand booths on Feb 26: EC

Ranchi: The Election Commission (EC) today (Feb 24, 2005) ordered repolling in 27 booths spread across 12 constituencies of Jharkhand, which went for the third and final phase polling yesterday (Feb 23, 2005).

The repolling would be held on February 26, election office sources said in Ranchi.

While four booths in Godda constituency would have repolling, the exercise would be carried out in three booths each in Madhupur, Sarath, Deogarh, Poreyahat and Mahagama, two each in Tundi and Gomia and one each in Dumka, Chandankiyari, Jharia and Bermo.

Repolling was necessistated due to reasons like defects in EVMs and damages caused to EVMs during the polling.

The three-phase polls to 81-member Jharkhand Assembly concluded yesterday and counting would be held on Sunday (Feb 27, 2005).
