Assault case: Sr Seer granted anticipatory bail

Chennai: A Sessions court today (Feb 24, 2005) granted anticipatory bail to Kanchi Mutt Seer, Jayendra Saraswathi, who apprehended arrest in the Tirukottiyur Madhavan assault case.

Granting the bail in Chennai this evening, the Principal Sessions Judge, P Murugesan, directed Jayendra Saraswathi to furnish a personal bond for Rs 25,000 with two sureties for like amounts.

He also directed the Seer to surrender before Judicial Magistrate Court-I, Kancheepuram, on or before March 10, 2005.

Telling the Seer that he should not tamper with evidence, or hamper investigation, the judge also directed the Seer to report before the investigating officer every Tuesday between 10:00 hrs (IST) and 1200 hrs (IST) noon.
