Senior Seer leaves Kalavai for Kancheepuram court

Kalavai: Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi, prime accused in the Sankararaman murder case, left Kalavai this morning (Feb 24, 2005) to Kancheepuram to appear in a court there in connection with the case.

The Seer, camping at the Mutt's Brindavan complex in Kalavai since his release on bail in the case last month, left by a Mutt vehicle at 09:00 hrs (IST).

Kancheepuram Judicial Magistrate-I G Uttamaraj had on February 10 directed that the Seer, his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi and 22 other accused in the case to be present in the court today.

All the 24 accused had appeared before the court on February 10 to receive the copies of the chargesheets in the case relating to the September 3, 2004 murder of Sankararaman, a temple official, but the copies could not be served on that day as the copies were not ready.

The special police investigation team probing the case had on January 21 filed the 1873-page chargesheet in the magistrate court.
