BJP to send Mahajan to Goa after MLA's resignation Friday, February 25 2005 10:54 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
With the party facing a setback in Goa following the resignation of its MLA ahead of the February 28 trial of strength in Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday (Feb 24, 2005) decided to send its trouble-shooter Pramod Mahajan to the State.
Mahajan, who is also party General Secretary in charge of Maharashtra and Goa, would be leaving for Panaji on Saturday (Feb 26, 2005), party sources said.
He would be camping in the State and "overseeing" the party's strategy when the Pratap Singh Rane Government seeks a vote of confidence on February 28, the sources said.
Digambar Kamat's resignation and Congress party's alleged attempts to "lure away party legislators through threat and allurements" figured prominently at the meeting of senior BJP leaders, chaired by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in New Delhi yesterday evening, they added.
