New Delhi:
Centre today (Feb 25, 2005) said that State Governments will continue to hold their own Common Entrance Tests for admission to MCA programmes in institutions within the States.
All private institutions affiliated to a State University in the State shall admit students based on the State level examination in a fair and transparent manner, an official release said.
Admissions in other approved quotas shall be made strictly on the basis of inter-se merit based on Common Entrance Tests as specified by the State Government.
The management quota shall be filled in accordance with the Supreme Court judgement, the release said.
The Government had earlier decided to dispense with the All India MCA Common Entrance Test (AIMCET). Accordingly, the IIT, Roorkee has been allowed to conduct its own joint admission test for management for admission to MCA programmes in IITs from 2005/06 onwards.
All Central and deemed universities including all private institutions may conduct their own entrance exam and admit students in a fair and transparent manner.
