Madras High Court today (Feb 25, 2005) posted to March 3 a petition by Kanchi Mutt lawyer A Shanmugham seeking a CBI inquiry into a complaint given by the wife of accused-turned approver Ravi Subramaniam in the Sankararaman murder case that two women lawyers had threatened her husband.
Chitra in her complaint to the police had alleged that Revathi Vasudevan and Nadira Banu, juniors of Shanmugham and another Mutt counsel Y Thyagarajan, had recently gone to the sub-jail, where Subramaniam has been lodged and attempted to "bribe" besides "threatening" him to change his confessional statement reportedly implicating the Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi in the murder case.
Admitting the petition, Justice K P Sivasubramanian issued notice to the Tamil Nadu Government and posted it for hearing to March 3.
