Congress registered gains in the 90-member Haryana Assembly, leading in 62 seats leaving the ruling Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) far behind with just 16 as per the incoming trends.
The State Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala was leading in Rori but was trailing in Narwana where Congress State President Pradip Singh Surjewala was ahead.
Haryana Congress Chief Bhajan Lal retains his Adampur in Haryana. He defeated his nearest rival by over 86,000 votes.
INDL, which had an absolute majority in the outgoing Assembly, was leading only in 16 seats. Other candidates were leading in 11 Assembly segments.
Major contenders other than the Chief Minister, who is contesting from Narwana and Rori include, Bhajan Lal from Adampur and his son Chander Mohan from Kalka.
Former Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Shamsher Singh Surjewala from Kaithal and his son Randeep from Narwana.
The fate of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Ranbir Singh Mahendra from Mundal Khurd, HPCC president Birender Singh from Uchana Kalan and former Union Minister Vinod Sharma from Ambala of Congress will also be revealed.
There are totally 984 candidates awaiting results in the State.
Reports coming in reveal Anand Singh Dangi of Congress wrestle Meham seat from INLD. Dangi defeats his nearest rival Rajbir Singh Samain of INLD by a margin of 2300 votes.
