Attributing his victory to the people of Haryana, State Congress chief Bhajan Lal today (Feb 27, 2005) said his party's priority would be to maintain peace, amity and over all development of the State.
"The landslide victory of Congress in the Assembly polls is endorsement of policies and programmes of Congress under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi by the people of the State," he said in a telephonic conversation.
Lal, who retained his traditional Adampur seat by defeating Rajesh Godara of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) by 71,080 votes, parried a question on who would be the next Chief Minister of the State.
The veteran Congress leader, who is among the strong contenders for the post of Chief Minister, had ruled the State thrice.
