12-hour 'Jharkhand bandh' by BJP tomorrow
Wednesday, March 2 2005 18:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jamshedpur: A 12-hour 'Jharkhand bandh' has been called by BJP tomorrow (March 3, 2005) to protest Governor Syed Sibtey Razi inviting JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) President Sibu Soren to head the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government in the State.

''The Jharkhand bandh call has been given in view of the move of Governor Syed Sibtey Razi to call the UPA to form the new Government ignoring NDA (National Democratic Alliance), which had already staked claim with the support of 41 legislators,'' BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) State president Raghuvar Das told sources over phone in Jamshedpur from Ranchi.

Spotlight: Elections-2005

The move was 'unjustified and unconstitutional' and 'murder of the democratic system' in the country, he said.

BJP had emerged at the hustings as the single largest party in the Assembly and had pre-poll alliance with JDU (Janata Dal United).

''In such a situation the Governor should have called us - the NDA first to form the Government as we also have the support of six independent legislators,'' he said.

Das said NDA legislators along with the independent MLAs will meet President, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam to parade their strength.
