Demanding recall of Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibte Razi, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) workers and supporters took to the street in the steel city forcing shopkeepers to down shutters in Jamshedpur today (March 2, 2005) in protest against his inviting JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) supremo Shibu Soren to form the Government.
The BJP took out a procession in Sakchi area while party workers set tyres ablaze on several roads disrupting traffic. The Governor's effigy was also burnt.
One person was detained, the police said.
The district administration has deployed policemen and posted pickets at strategic locations, the sources said.
