LJP to stay in UPA but vote against Laloo: Paswan Wednesday, March 2 2005 18:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Amid the continuing deadlock over Government formation in Bihar due to the fractured mandate, (Lok Janshakti Party) LJP President Ramvilas Paswan today (Mar 2, 2005) said that his party would remain in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) not withstanding Congress' support to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) but will vote against Rabri Devi if she was invited to form the Ministry.
''With the support of 10 Congress MLAs, the number of legislators supporting RJD will go up to 85 but that is not enough for it to prove its majority in the Assembly,'' Paswan, who arrived in Patna after a two-day stay in Delhi where he met Congress president Sonia Gandhi, said.
''RJD ki sarkar saat janam mein bhi nahin banegi (RJD Government will never be formed),'' he said.
Asked if his party would quit the UPA following Congress' decision to back RJD in its endeavour to form the Government, Paswan said, ''I have told you people (the media) time and again that our politics at the Centre and Bihar should be seen separately. We have resolved to remain in UPA at the Centre but have decided to vote against RJD if it is invited to form Government in the State.''
