Centre says it has no role in appointment of Soren
Thursday, March 3 2005 20:48 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Centre also today (March 3, 2005) sought to distance itself from the decision of Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi in appointing Sibu Soren as Chief Minister saying it had no role in it.

Spotlight: Elections-2005

"The Opposition charge is totally incorrect," official sources said referring to the allegations that the Governor took the decision at the instance of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

"In fact, the Centre had asked the Governor to be correct and follow the Constitutional norms," the sources said.

This came hours after the Congress party issued a similar disclaimer.
