Gutka baron Joshi's petition adjourned to Mar 16 Thursday, March 3 2005 12:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
The Bombay High Court today (Mar 3, 2005) adjourned to March 16 a petition filed by gutka baron Jagdish Joshi urging for quashing of non-bailable warrants against him.
The CBI, which is investigating the case, today informed the High Court that a warrant against Jagdish had been executed and they had also questioned him for his alleged links with the underworld.
Justice R M S Khandeparkar and P V Kakade opined that the special court was seized of the matter and that the court only should decide Joshi's plea for consideration of warrant.
Joshi had appeared before the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court and urged for cancellation of warrant.
He has been questioned by CBI on four occasions since his return from UAE on February 25.
One of the accused in the gutka case has alleged that Joshi and another Gutka king, Rasiklal Manikchand Dhariwal had helped Pakistan-based don Dawood Ibrahim in establishing gutka business in the neighbouring country.
He had also alleged that Dawood had settled their business dispute.
