Narain Karthikeyan fined for exceeding speed limit

Melbourne: India's Formula one (F-1) rookie Narain Karthikeyan was today (Mar 4, 2005) slapped a fine of $ 6,750 soon after his first drive at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne today.

Karthikeyan was fined by stewards for exceeding the pit lane speed limit in his Jordan car during opening practice ahead of Sunday's (Mar 6, 2005) season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Stewards found that Karthikeyan was traveling at a speed of 86.2 km/h and was found to be in breach of F-1 regulations.
