Sania's winning streak comes to an abrupt stop
Friday, March 4 2005 13:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Dubai: Sania Mirza's winning streak came to an abrupt halt at the Dubai Duty Free Women's Open last night (Mar 3, 2005) when she was completely dominated by Serbia's Jelena Jankovic in the quarterfinals match.

Sania lost in straight sets (2-6, 2-6) to the world number 28, disappointing her exited and cheering fans.

But all was not lost as she did manage to eliminate the reigning US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova. That win could take her up into the top 75.
