Indian beheaded in Saudi for murdering compatriot

Riyadh: An Indian convicted of murdering a compatriot in Saudi Arabia was beheaded today (Mar 6, 2005) in the northeastern town of Hafar al-Batin, the Interior Ministry said.

The man had hit the victim on the head with a stone before slashing his throat and stealing his money, said a statement carried by the official SPA news agency.

The latest execution brings to 19 the number of beheadings announced by Saudi authorities so far this year.
