Gorakhpur (UP):
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Sri Prakash Jaiswal yesterday (Mar 5, 2005) blamed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for creating political instability in Goa that culminated in imposition of President's rule in the State.
The Minister alleged that NDA had hatched a conspiracy to cancel the membership of an MLA and the Centre had no option but to dismiss the Goa Government.
On Jharkhand issue, he alleged that NDA had hijacked five independent MLAs. Two of them had earlier given written consent to Governor Syed Sibtey Razi that; they would support the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government. However, the majority would be proved on the floor of the House, he said.
Referring to situation in Nepal, he said that India is concerned about the internal problems of Nepal and has shown its disagreement over imposition of emergency there. In view of prevailing situation in Nepal the vigil on entire India-Nepal border has been stepped up.
The Centre will soon raise 16 new battalions of Seema Surksha Bal (SSB) and most of them would be deployed on India-Nepal border, he said.
He said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is gradually returning to normalcy during the UPA regime at the Centre.
The Centre has asked States to launch programmes on a massive scale in Naxal affected areas to nullify the influence of naxals, apart from using force to tackle the menace, he added.
He also said that the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh was extremely poor. Every person of the State thinks and believes the Government has failed miserably on law and order front, he said, addressing the delegates at the two-day youth leadership camp of the State unit of Congress.
