10 naxalites killed in encounter in Andhra Pradesh

Nizamabad (AP): Ten Maoist naxals, including a senior leader of the outfit, were killed in an encounter with police in a forest in Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh early today (Mar 7, 2005).

Prominent Communist Party of India (CPI-Maoist) leader and district committee member Ramesh was among those killed in the exchange of fire near Manala, police said, adding they are yet to identify the other slain naxals.

Police also recovered eight weapons, including an AK 47, and two SLRs, from the site.
