'Cong will try to bring Laloo and Paswan together' Monday, March 7 2005 18:43 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ballia (UP):
Congress today (Mar 7, 2005) said that it would try to bring Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan together to help in formation of a secular Government in Bihar.
"Though the coming together of Laloo Prasad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan appears to be a remote possibility at this juncture, in time to come all secular parties will have to sit together to solve the problem," All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and in charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh Satyavrat Chaturvedi said in Ballia.
"The mandate in Bihar is against communal forces and all secular parties will have to adopt a flexible attitude to keep them (communal parties) away from power," the senior leader said.
However, he said that in the present scenario, recommendation of President's rule was "constitutionally correct" as people of Bihar cannot afford another election adding Congress hopes a secular Government will come to power in near future.
On the Jharkhand issue, Chaturvedi said, "Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is unnecessarily raising a hue and cry over the matter."
