Empowerment of women vital for nation: Kalam

New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam today (March 7, 2005) said empowerment of women was imperative as their thoughts and value systems lead to the development of a good family, good society and ultimately a good nation.

Extending his warm greetings on the occasion of the International Women's Day, a stable society is ensured when its women are empowered, according to a Rashtrapati Bhawan release in New Delhi.

He greeted all women for their role in shaping the destiny of the nation and in its transformation into a developed nation by 2020.
