Laloo, Patil meet: Discuss Bihar political situation Monday, March 7 2005 13:59 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Laloo Prasad Yadav today (Mar 7, 2005) met Home Minister Shivraj Patil in New Delhi to discuss the political situation in Bihar.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of Bihar Governor Buta Singh's report to the Centre recommending imposition of President's Rule in the State as no political combination is in a position to provide a stable Government.
After the 30-minute meeting, Laloo said that the Home Minister had called him to discuss the Bihar situation.
He said that he would be meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later in the day.
Holding Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ramvilas Paswan responsible for the "unfortunate" situation of pushing the State towards Central rule, Laloo said, "For the first time in history, instead of staking claim, a political party has gone to the Governor to stop the single largest party (RJD) from being invited for forming a Government."
"I am sure this development will not cause any embarrassment to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre. There is lot of resentment among the people of Bihar. Paswan is weakening the UPA," the RJD chief alleged.
He evaded replying to a question about what stand his party would take when the resolution for President's Rule comes up before Parliament for ratification, saying, "We will take a view then."
