Another Lashkar-e-Toiba militant held in Dehradun Tuesday, March 8 2005 15:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Unearthing yet another link in the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) plot to target Indian Military Academy in Dehradun and software installations in Bangalore, police arrested a militant of the Pakistan-based outfit in the Uttaranchal capital.
Mohammad Iftikar Ehsan was arrested last night (March 7, 2005) and has been brought to Delhi for questioning, Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh said today (March 8, 2005).
Ehsan, who hails from Bihar, was studying in a biotechnology institute in Uttaranchal for over a year now, he said.
Three LeT militants, including two Pakistani nationals, had been killed in an encounter with police here on Saturday.
Two of their associates had also been arrested.
Investigations had revealed that they planned to carry out a suicide attack on IMA and had also visited Bangalore to survey the locations of software installations there.
It was believed that Ehsan regularly provided information about IMA to the other militants who were staying in hideouts in Delhi, police sources said.
Police teams had also been sent to Patna where the militants had established another base.
