Bomb threat at Wipro office turns out to be hoax Wednesday, March 9 2005 14:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
An anonymous telephone call claiming that a bomb has been planted at an office of software major Wipro on the busy Mahatma Gandhi Road in Bangalore turned out be hoax after police conducted a thorough search of the premises.
"It turned out to be hoax," a police official said as a dog and metal detector squad sent to the multi-storeyed building which also houses "The Times of India" office, found nothing after carrying out the search.
Four floors of the MG Road building is occupied by the software major.
The police squad searched the entire premises, including the English daily's office, and even carried out physical checking. Tension prevailed among Wipro's employees, who heaved a sigh of relief after nothing was found.
The telephone call this morning comes close on the heels of Delhi police uncovering militants' plot to attack software firms in Bangalore.
