Pakistani actress Meera promises to clear her name Thursday, March 10 2005 10:50 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Islamabad:
Pakistan film actress Meera, who complained of threats and sustained campaigning by "interested" groups in Pakistan, accusing her of featuring in a kissing scene in the Indian film 'Nazar', returned home yesterday (Mar 9, 2005) from Mumbai and said that she is determined to clear her name.
Meera returned to Karachi after completing her shooting schedule in the film 'Nazar being produced by Mahesh Bhatt.
On her arrival, she was received at the Karachi airport by her family members and friends. A large contingent of the local media was also present at the airport to report on her return home. Meera said that she planned to take up with Pakistani authorities the persistent reports in the media that she has been fined and would be banned from acting in Indian films for featuring in kissing scenes.
She and her family have complained of receiving threatening calls from people claiming to represent religious groups in Pakistan who protested her decision to act in Indian films.
The actress Meera said at Karachi airport yesterday that allegations were being made out without watching the film, as it has not yet been released.
"The shooting for the movie has just been completed and people here have not seen the movie yet. How can these allegations be made against me," she was quoted by the Geo TV as saying.
Meera said that she was totally satisfied with her role in the film and would visit India again to further her career in Indian films.
