ULFA militants blows up OIL gas pipeline in Assam

Guwahati: United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) militants blew up a gas pipeline of Oil India Ltd (OIL) in Upper Assam's Tinsukia district last night (Mar 9, 2005), police said.

The ultras destroyed a portion of the pipeline at Butibari inside Lakhipathar reserve forest under Lankshi police outpost at around 8:45 hrs (IST), police said.

There was no report of injury.

The blaze was brought under control around midnight and repair work on the pipeline was continuing, police said.

The ULFA has stepped up its attack ahead of its 'Army raising day' on March 16.
