Governor summons Soren; might ask him to step down

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren was tonight (March 11, 2005) summoned by Governor Sibtey Razi in the light of Assembly's failure to conduct a trial of strength.

Soren would be meeting the Governor around 2100 hours (IST), official sources said.

The summons from the Governor came amidst reports that Soren might be asked to step down before the Supreme Court deadline for the trial of strength expires tonight.

Jharkhand - Party Position

Once he steps down the Governor may call Arjun Munda, leader of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) to form the Government.
