PM and CPM leaders discuss Jharkhand 'deadlock' Friday, March 11 2005 20:59 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tonight (March 11, 2005) had a meeting with CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) leaders Harkishen Singh Surjeet and Prakash Karat and discussed the constitutional deadlock arising out of Jharkhand Assembly's failure to conduct a trial of strength today.
The discussions took place ahead of a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs slated later in the night.
Sources said Singh is understood to have told the CPM leaders that a constitutional "deadlock" has been created by the Assembly not taking up the business of vote of confidence in defiance of the Supreme Court directions.
