New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tonight (March 11, 2005) had a meeting with CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) leaders Harkishen Singh Surjeet and Prakash Karat and discussed the constitutional deadlock arising out of Jharkhand Assembly's failure to conduct a trial of strength today.

The discussions took place ahead of a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs slated later in the night.

Sources said Singh is understood to have told the CPM leaders that a constitutional "deadlock" has been created by the Assembly not taking up the business of vote of confidence in defiance of the Supreme Court directions.

He is believed to have told them that the Government should find a way out of the problem.

The CPM leaders are said to have listened to the Prime Minister and had not given any views from their side, the sources said.
